We had high hopes for our trip to Palawan because of all the hype the island gets both online and offline. Unfortunately, not everything goes your way and for some reason, it’s when you’re looking forward to something that the universe decides to tease you. We were supposed to fly out of Manila Thursday afternoon using Cebu Pacific so we can spend a good 3 whole days since we were scheduled to come back Monday morning. It was definitely lesson learned for us because the airline ended up cancelling our flight after delaying out flight 4 times! What was weird though was Philippine Airlines still proceeded with their flight to Puerto Princesa. Lesson learned? When going to remote places in the Philippines, better to pay a little extra so you can actually arrive on the island on time or one the day planned
On the brighter side of things, good things also come to those who wait because even if there was a 2 hour car ride from the airport to Sabang Island, the view was just amazing! We knew that if this was a glimpse of what we were to see in Sheridan, we were going to be in for a treat! So here are 5 reasons why a visit to Sheridan Resort Puerto Princesa should be on your bucket list!
1. You get buck for your money with their rooms and amenities. Flying to Palawan is not cheap. Infact, the ticket to and fro and accommodations are almost the same price when you fly to Hong Kong or Bangkok. Sheridan Palawan makes sure that the money you pay is worth it with the size of their rooms and how complete their amenities are. Look at the pool! It’s massive! haha
We stayed in the suite overlooking the ocean The bed can comfortably fit three people and the sofa right there can be a bed as well!
They have a pool bar where you can also enjoy cocktails and bar munches to cool off
The place is very child friendly, too! They have a kiddie pool and jacuzzi!
2. The beachfront and water are reasons enough for you to go. The charm of Palawan lies in fact that the island looks very untouched. Like you are really one with nature and you’re experiencing it at it’s very best. The beach and ocean that are just a few steps from the hotel already gives you a glimpse of it! The water is so clear and blue and the sand is very fine. Not as white as Boracay though!

Disclaimer: We didn’t get to go snorkelling though as the waves are very rough during December so if you want to island hop and go diving, then go during the summer. However, if you just want to relax like Verniece and I wanted to do, then go during this month!

3. Detox all the toxins out by visiting Sheridan’s Organic Farm. I’m a fan of healthy eating so I was really looking forward to this! You can avail of an afternoon touring the place and an organic lunch that doesn’t make you feel like you’re dieting at all! You can even request in the hotel to make all your meals with organic ingredients They grow everything themselves so you know it’s really fresh!
First time to see a turkey mating hahaha!
4. The dishes served at Sheridan is very simple comfort food you’d want to eat again and again. No fancy ingredients or plating here just food that will remind you that you’re on a deserted island. Just made really really well! haha! Our personal favourites are: the steak and cheese pizza and the cookies and cream frap. We had it every single day!!
They even arranged a formal dinner for us so if you have any special celebrations then you can have the front desk arrange it for you
5. The last of course is that the hotel is only a 10 minute boat ride to the famous Underground River! You can also make your life easier by making the hotel arrange everything for you You’ll be escorted to the dock as well!
