Whenever I travel, I make it a point to check out the hotels my friends and family members plan on staying in to make sure it’s the best. Just like when I first visited Puerto Princesa, I made sure to stay at the best resort and it didn’t disappoint! Lissa and I got to stay at Sheridan Resort and Spa, despite the one and a half to two hour drive to the resort it was all worth it. Besides, it was a very scenic ride! Sadly, as much as I wanted to stop and take photos the rain was pouring during the drive but luckily cleared up as we got to the resort.
Something I loved about this trip was that we were given the entire first day off to just relax, chill and enjoy the place. So after a number of outfit shots and before lunch at the South Sea Restaurant, I did a bit of exploring and got to see the entire resort which has a lot to offer I tell you! From beautiful pools, a spa and other outdoor activities, they too have an area where you can grab a few drinks and maybe play a few rounds of beer pong! Cool ain’t it?
It was great to get out of Manila even for just a few days.
Some pretty towel art welcomed us as we entered our suite! Btw, I went on this trip with Lissa who I got to bond with during our four day, three night stay. We enjoyed every second of the trip and made sure to make the most out of everything we did at Puerto Princesa, I especially because it was my first time there. I promise to come back and try out all the restaurants and activities you all suggested to me over on Instagram and Twitter!
Despite the rain, the sun came out to play! So we couldn’t help but enjoy the beach. I brought my roundie out and put on my bikini on and we headed straight for the sand. Look at the sand btw, it’s so white and fine!
After enjoying the sun, san and salt water, it was dinner time! The food was delicious of course and yes, I did stuff my face with loads of lechon (roasted suckling pig). As much as Lissa and I wanted to stay out we knew we had to be up early for an extremely fun day ahead! But the night wasn’t over! We enjoyed a massage a little after and boy did that do wonders for us. Some rest and relaxation is just what be both needed.
DAY TWO
After a quick breakfast did one heck of a speed shoot before getting dressed for our first activity that day which was a tour of the Underground River and a super fun pizza making activity! One thing cool about Sheridan is it’s location. It’s walking distance from the port and just a couple minutes away from the Underground River. Prime location I must say! Btw, all the tours during this trip were all taken care of thanks to the resort.
We were extremely lucky because the sun was shining today! The tours were cancelled the day before we went on it because of the weather so PHEW! Perfect timing!
I love how Palawan really makes it a point to protect everything in it. From the corals, to the animals, to the water, the sand and all that jazz. No wonder everything on that island is simply amazing. If you haven’t gone to Palawan then I highly suggest you book a flight and go!
After a 15 minute bangka ride we reached the entrance to the Underground River. Did you know that it is one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature? This was made official last January 28, 2012. So happy that I actually got to visit a Wonder of Nature during my trip!
Look at how lush and green everything is! The short walk to the entrance was amazing and breath taking! If you’re lucky you might get to see some wildlife along the way like monkeys and peacocks. Sadly, we didn’t get to see any but the walk alone was b-e-a-utiful!
Look at all those sleeping bats! And yes, it’s pitch black inside the cave and your only source of light is this strong flashlight that someone at the front of the bangka held up. I suggest you all bring a bandana to wear under your helmets and to wear something cool cause it does get a little humid inside the cave. Other than that, don’t forget to bring a camera cause if you can try to snap some photos from inside the cave then go for it!
The tour lasted about 30 minutes long and we did the shorter version, because if you pay a little more you get a longer tour and go deeper into the Underground River.
My Underground River outfit! Lol
Look at all those huge chunks of limestone! Such majestic and beautiful things. I felt like I was walking on an absolute dream!
After all that, it was time to make some pizza! You can only imagine how happy I was because I absolutely LOVE pizza! We were assisted by the resort chefs and made one each, I made an all meat pizza, while Lissa made a Hawaiian one and boy were they delicious! We made sure to use as much cheese as we possibly could — just thinking about this is making me crave for the resort pizza.
Apparently, they only use mango wood to reduce the need for electric and gas cooking in the kitchen. I really think what makes this pizza so great is the fact that all the ingredients are so fresh and delivered straight from their farm to the kitchen (but more on that in my next Sheridan post).
After stuffing our faces with pizzas, Lissa and I got dressed and ready for some ATV Jungle Tour fun! I enjoyed this sooooooooo much! I felt like I was Tomb Raider riding around a place straight out of Jungle Book! This was one of my favorite activities of the trip.
After a fun filled afternoon of ATV-ing, we made our way back to the beach to chill. Of course, we couldn’t resist taking advantage of our trip and snapping some blog and Insta worthy shots.
Gosh, just looking at all my photos makes me miss everything about Sheridan Palawan. I cannot wait to share my second post with you all and go back to Puerto Princesa! Btw, forgive the photo heavy post. Just so you all know, another one is coming your way real soon. But maybe an outfit post first.. Let’s see!
